Private Communications Systems and Users

A large part of Shughart Thomson & Kilroy, P.C.'s telecommunications industry practice involves representing entities who design, own or operate fiber optic, broadband, radio or other communications systems including entities that offer private carrier services, ISPs, enhanced service providers ("ESPs"), private paging, or operating private and shared wireless facilities. The Firm's attorneys represent companies seeking FCC licenses of private radio facilities and advise clients on relevant FCC regulations and state public utility law concerning private carriage, broadband fiber lines and use of the public switched telephone network. We have also litigated issues relating to procurement of telecommunications equipment, protection of private radio facilities from destructive electrical interference, and transmitter site management disputes. We have served as Special Counsel to state and local governments and public safety departments that operate private mobile and other communications systems for the benefit of the public health and safety, and have represented alarm and security providers on telecommunications uses.
