Philip W. Bledsoe, a trial lawyer with Shughart Thomson & Kilroy, practices in the areas of commercial and complex litigation, business torts and product liability. He has appeared in state trial and appellate courts in Colorado, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, Iowa and Illinois, and federal courts for Colorado, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Kentucky, Illinois, Iowa and Oklahoma. Approximately one half of his practice is in federal court.
His substantive experience includes antitrust, class actions, contract, commercial arbitrations, construction, employment litigation, fraud (including securities fraud), franchise terminations, fiduciary duty claims involving officers, directors and shareholders, interference with contract, lender liability, product liability, professional negligence, trademark and other intellectual property matters. Clients include those engaged in banking, brokerage, cable television, consulting, computer manufacturing and sales, engineering, insurance, manufacturing, marketing, medical devices, mining, petroleum marketing and refining, publishing, reinsurance, real estate development, software development and sales, sports regulation, telecommunications and law firms and other professionals.
Mr. Bledsoe is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), the Defense Research Institute (DRI), the ABA Litigation and Antitrust sections and the Colorado and Missouri State Bar Associations and the Denver and Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Associations. He is a regular speaker at CLE programs.
He was admitted to The Missouri Bar in 1984, and the Colorado Bar in 2002. He is admitted before the United State Supreme Court, The United States Court of Appeals for the 10th, 8th and 6th Circuits and the United States District Courts for Colorado, the Western District of Missouri, Kansas, and the Central District of Illinois. He is the author of "Separating Power: No Legislative Veto of Agency Action" 49 Missouri Law Review, 1984. Mr. Bledsoe has been with Shughart Thomson & Kilroy since 1984.
